New Mexico State Parks Division was originally formed
as the New Mexico State Parks Commission in 1933. Today
the Division has grown into a 34-park system, consisting
of lakes, rivers, ponds, canyons, forests, deserts and
historical sites. Those parks encompass over 185,000 acres
of land and over 106,000 lake surface acres. Each year
our State Parks Division serves nearly 4 million visitors
and host over 2,000 events, offering a variety of interpretive
and educational programs and recreational activities.
